Nine months goes by fast! Here's what to expect from the second season of the NAFL.
It's hard to believe that nine months have passed since our last post. We're down to the final three weeks before we line up for the first match of the 2023 season at Tornado Alley in Georgetown, TX! Two new teams in the league. Exciting new player announcements from all the teams. American floorball continues to grow, and the North American Floorball League is here to help grow the game in the US!
The Jags return a few players and are excited to showcase new talent, both foreign and domestic. Leading the returning players are our friends from Espoo, Finland - the Westend Indians! Jag's Head Coach Joel Ekroos brings back three returning Indians and two new ones, and this year they come back with hardware! Westend's Under-22 team (featuring all five of our Indians) just won the Finnish National Championship for their age bracket...no small feat. In front of goalie Tuure Hussi, the four champions (Oskari Piisila, Onni Forss, Pepe Strommer, and Setti Roimela) are ready to contend for America's top floorball trophy.
We are also proud to showcase a few American Under-19 players, fresh from their campaign in Frederickshavn, Denmark at the Men's U19 World Floorball Championship. North Texas' own Niko Gray and Alex Radichel line up alongside US teammate Ryan Folic (Florida) to bring their games to the next level as they try to join the US Men's team next year. Other returning faces bring experience and skill, with Sami Ilonen from Finland and Isak Angerstig from North Texas returning to the squad.
A few newcomers also join us, including two from the Czech Republic - Alex Dokladal and Jakub Jaros. Matt Nunez and Tyler Radichel round out the team representing North Texas. Finally, NTFA veterans will remember Finnish exchange student Kristian Saurio, who played with NTFA a few years ago. Saurio is excited to come back to the Metroplex and show us a thing or two that he's learned playing back at home and growing up!
Ten matches in 15 days, followed by two playoff games. Three cities and venues, and the best floorball you'll find in the Western Hemisphere. Come on out and join us at Nytex Sports Center at the end of July. We'll have morning day camps on Thursday and Friday, July 27 and 28, followed by three matches each day. Saturday and Sunday will feature the Jag's first 3v3 street floorball tournament, with a rapid-fire pace of games in multiple divisions over two days. Both the day camp and the 3v3 tournament tickets come with free admission to that day's NAFL matches.
It's HOT in Texas!!! Come see why floorball inside is just as HOT as it is outside. Tickets are on sale now at Prekindle - get yours today before they sell out! Day passes are only $10 for all matches, and a four-day weekend pass is a $5 savings at $35!
